Mike Hatfield Promoted as the City of Del City’s Public Works Director
Del City, OK: The City of Del City today announced that Mike Hatfield has been promoted to serve as Public Works Director, effective March 29, 2020.
Mr. Hatfield has 24 years of service to Del City, most recently as Deputy Public Works Director. Mike began his career in the Sewer Line Maintenance division as a Light Equipment Operator, worked at the Water Treatment Plant, and supervised the Sewer Line Maintenance division. At the water plant, his team received numerous awards and Del City became known as a national leader in drinking water quality. Hatfield holds a number of professional licenses, including Class A Wastewater, Class B Water, and Class C Wastewater Lab.
Mr. Hatfield brings a strong combination of experience and technical expertise, which will allow the Public Works Department to continue to enhance its abilities to serve the citizens of Del City. The Department has recently completed major improvements to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Public Works Administration and Fleet Maintenance facilities, continues to work on rehabilitating water wells, and is implementing new technologies to drive efficient and effective operations.
“I’ve worked with Mike for over twenty years,” says Mike Cantrell, acting City Manager. “When I was the Public Works Director, I watched him excel in his role as Sewer Line Maintenance Supervisor. We are elated that he accepted this promotion and are excited to see the service level continue to improve as he steps into this role.”
“The past 14 months has been quite the learning experience in moving from supervising one division to overseeing the whole department,” says Hatfield. “I’m hopeful to continue to achieve excellence for my department for the benefit of our citizens.”
