The Chief Building Inspector serves as a member of the management team in the Community Services Department, supervising inspection and plan review functions and providing general support to the entire department.
Performs work of a technical nature utilizing problem-solving skills, knowledge and abilities normally acquired prior to assuming the position. The employee is responsible for supporting the City’s overall redevelopment goals by undertaking investigation and enforcement of a variety of codes, regulations and standards. This position requires extremely well developed judgement and discretion and a commitment to providing excellent customer service, even when dealing with difficult situations.
Department: Department of Management
Under the direction of the Economic Development Director, this position is responsible for the overall public relations and marketing efforts of the city. The position will perform various marketing projects and outreach efforts in order to better inform the citizens of news, events, and projects occurring within each department of the city. This position will also serve as the assistant public information officer as needed and requested.
Department: Parks and Recreation
This is a multi-function position under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. The work is semi-routine in nature, although the employee may be required to make judgements as the the appropriate action to take in various situations in accordance with established policies, procedures and the instructions of the Recreation Supervisor. Department: Police Department
This employee is responsible for the receiving of calls for service from the public by telephone or personal contact regarding emergency and non-emergency situations, complaints and animal control problems. Records all pertinent information and the dispatching of Police patrol forces to calls for service through radio operations. Employees of this class are under the direct supervision of a Division Commander and the general supervision of a Shift Commander. Employee may be responsible for the on-the-job training of new personnel.
This is a civilian position in enforcing animal control laws and ordinances. The employee is responsible for the capture and impounding of animals that do not comply with established animal laws and ordinances. Work involves an element of danger and has considerable contact with the public. Work is usually performed independently within established rules and procedures. This employee is under the direct supervision of a Division Commander or his/her designee.
Department: Public Works
This is manual labor in the performance of semiskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature. Work involves responsibility for performing heavy manual labor, general construction and related servicing tasks in public areas and street rights-of-way.
This is heavy manual work in collecting refuse and trash. An employee in this classification works under the close supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor and/or Crew Chief, who assigns routes and inspects work daily.
This is a responsible skilled work of a mechanical nature in the maintenance of the sewer system. Employees in this class have the responsibility for the operation and general maintenance of the collection system maintained by the City. Work is performed with some latitude for the use of independent judgment in some work methods and procedures while carrying out the maintenance on the collection line.
Work in this classification is skilled in nature, with Operator performing a variety of complex tasks. Most of the work is semi-routine, following established policies and procedures; however, a large portion requires initiative and independent judgment concerning techniques and methods by which tasks are to be performed. Equipment operation includes, but is not limited to, dump trucks, backhoe-loaders, tractors with brush hog, flail-type mowers, box blade, disc, and other gasoline and diesel-powered equipment rated at 40 hp or more.
