Department: Parks and Recreation
The Lifeguard is responsible for guarding their area of responsibility, responding to any level of incident around the entire facility, enforcing the Aquatic Center rules fairly and politely, being responsive to all customer requests, ensuring customer safety, and other tasks assigned by the Aquatic Center Management staff. Outdoor weather conditions with little to no temperature control, is routinely exposed to the sun, may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, wind and rain; works on uneven and/or slippery surfaces and is periodically exposed to hazardous conditions/situations.
Under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, this position includes landscaping, planting, mowing and Community Center maintenance. The work is semi-routine in nature, although the employee may be required to make judgments as to the appropriate action to take in similar situations according to established policies and procedures.
Department: Police Department
This employee is responsible for the receiving of calls for service from the public by telephone or personal contact regarding emergency and non-emergency situations, complaints and animal control problems. Records all pertinent information and the dispatching of Police patrol forces to calls for service through radio operations. Employees of this class are under the direct supervision of a Division Commander and the general supervision of a Shift Commander. This is general duty police work in enforcing laws and ordinances. This employee is responsible for the protection of life and property; prevention, detection, and investigation of crime and maintaining law and order. Work involves an element of danger and may be performed either in plain clothes or in uniform. The Patrol Officer is engaged in constant and varied contact with the public which requires the exercise of individual initiative. Department: Public Works
This is a responsible skilled work of a mechanical nature in the maintenance of the sewer system. Employees in this class have the responsibility for the operation and general maintenance of the collection system maintained by the City. Work is performed with some latitude for the use of independent judgment in some work methods and procedures while carrying out the maintenance on the collection line.
Work in this classification is skilled in nature, with Operator performing a variety of complex tasks. Most of the work is semi-routine, following established policies and procedures; however, a large portion requires initiative and independent judgment concerning techniques and methods by which tasks are to be performed. Equipment operation includes, but is not limited to, dump trucks, backhoe-loaders, tractors with brush hog, flail-type mowers, box blade, disc, and other gasoline and diesel-powered equipment rated at 40 hp or more.
