What is Adopt-a-Flowerbed?
Adopt-a-flowerbed is an effort to encourage community involvement in ongoing community beautification. Volunteers/Sponsors can plant, weed and care for city entrance flowerbeds.
Who Can Get Involved?
Any interested business, organization, individual and neighborhood groups can care for one of the entrance flowerbeds. You may adopt a favorite site or the Beautification Committee can suggest a flowerbed needing to be adopted.
What Are The Duties of an Adopt-a-Flowerbed Volunteer?
The expectation is that the volunteer will prepare the bed prior to planting, plant the flowers (provided by the City), keep the flowerbed free of weeds and grass, pinch back spent blooms, water the flowers remove dead plants from the bed after the first hard frost and plant fall/winter flowers.
Who Will Provide Materials Needed
The City of Del City will provide the bedding plants, mulch and guidelines for maintenance instructions.
Volunteers who have given part of their valuable time to keep our City beautiful will be recognized for all their efforts.
1. Adopt-a-Flowerbed sign with volunteer name will be placed at the flowerbed location to recognize the individual, business or group.
2. Advertisement in the “Adopt a Flower Bed” brochure
3. Advertised on the Del City’s local city channel and website.
